Who wants to be prime minister?

A little recap:

In early September 2022 Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister since July 2019, resigned due to mass resignation of ministers following a number of incidents. The conservative party then elected Liz Truss into office, and she became the shortest- serving prime minister of the UK. After only 45 days in office she resigned in the midst of a financial crisis where her governments economic policies failed catastrophically. The conservative party then quickly replaced her with Rishi Sunak in late October 2022.

Who is Rishi Sunak?

One of the youngest prime ministers ever at 42 he is also one of the richest with an estimated net worth of 730 million pounds combined with his wife. He attended a private boarding school and continued his schooling at Oxford in politics, philosophy, and economics. Then going to Stanford and earning a Master of Business Administration. In 2009 he married Akshata Murty, daughter of the ‘Bill Gates of India’ the founder of Infosys (a software company). In the early 2000’s he worked as an analyst at the investment bank Goldman Sachs and then went on to work at two different hedge funds.

Sunak became a member of parliament in 2014, he was also appointed chief secretary to the Treasury by Boris Johnson in 2019. He was also chancellor of the Exchequer. In September 2022 he ran for the position of Prime Minister and lost to Liz Truss. He Became prime minister after her resignation in October and hasn’t resigned yet! UK voters are wondering how long the new Prime Minister will last and if he, as the replacement of the replacement (Liz Truss) of the original Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be a decent politician.
