houseplants

If you're feeling lonely in lock down or just wanna make some green inaudible friends, you're in the right place. This blog is a short and sweet guide to building up a horrendous obsession with houseplants and how not to kill them because that's a bit mean. I'll show you the best houseplants for beginners, how to care for 'em and what jazzy things you can do for them. All of the plants and pots can most likely be found at your local Truffaut or Garden Center. Before this blog continues I must add that writing this has sort of a redemption for me as my crime is killing a cactus, yes the ones that can survive in the desert without water, those ones. Welcome to my learning journey folks.

WHO DO I CHOOSE TO BE MY NEW FRIEND?

To start off, succulent plants are adorable and make great additions to any shelf. Below are some of the best ones for beginners that aren't too picky about irregular watering. You can also treat them like Pokemon cards and start collecting them until they take over a whole shelf in your room. Another great option are hanging plants like Spider Plants, Trailing Jade or Pitcher Plant!

Here are some of the most common (and cutest) succulents you can collect:

- Aloe

- Jade Plant

- Echeveria (most common)

- Zebra Haworthia

HOW CAN I TAKE CARE OF THEM?

Buying any plant comes with great power and

therefore great responsibility. Sometimes you'll buy a seemingly small potted plant but then you'll find yourself re potting with a giant plant weeks later in a larger pot. Another tip is to please give your plants some sunlight (they

don't have the capabilities to go for a nice tan) so

remember to sit them on a nice sunny part of your room that'll make them look pretty.

You can also invest in really beautiful plant watering mister bottle like this!

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO WITH IT?

Get creative and make your own pots! One of my biggest inspirations is Marzia Kjellberg! She makes adorable little characters on her pots >>>>>>>>>>

For hanging plants there's also a great DIY option to make your own Macrame hanging basket! Its really fun and easy and it makes any space a lot more boho and cosy.

There's so many more great ideas out there for collecting houseplants. These plants can boost productivity, reduce stress and boost your mood! It's really relaxing to see your plant grow and breathe if you keep up the watering and care. (I must solemnly add that the day before writing this blog I dropped a DIY grow your own bonsai tree kit on the floor - so take this guide with a pinch of salt if you want)

Happy Plant Growing! :)
